In collaboration with the Government of Sharjah's Economic Development Department, TBY hosted a discussion about investment opportunities in the Emirate. During the panel the global investment climate in Sharjah and opportunities for growth in the Emirate were discussed. The promotion of sustainability in business and development was also an important focus of the debate, while incentives for entrepreneurship and innovation in the public and private sectors was explored in some detail.

HE Sultan Abdullah bin Hadda Al Suwaidi has been Chairman of the SEDD since 2012. Prior to being appointed Chairman, His Excellency served as Secretary General of the Sharjah Consultative Council from 1999 to 2012, and Director of Membership Affairs and Transactions at the Sharjah Chamber of Commerce and Industry from 1988 to 1999. Since 2012, he has been a member of the Sharjah Executive Council, the Emirates Standardization Authority Council, and the Economic Coordination and Cooperation Committee. His Excellency holds a bachelor's degree in public administration/politics from UAE University in Al Ain.
Mohamed Al Musharrkh is Director of Invest in Sharjah.
Ahmed Bin Saed is Head of Commercial Investment at Sharjah Economic Development Department (SEDD).
Maha Mansor Al Zarooni is Exporters Service & Markets Executive of Sharjah Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCI).
In April of 1981, His Highness Dr. Sheikh Sultan Bin Mohammed Al-Qasimi, member of the Supreme Council, Ruler of the Emirate of Sharjah, issued the Amiri Decree No.18 establishing "The Economic Department", and thus founded the first local economic department in the history of the United Arab Emirates. This Department was to take over the local authority for the application of federal laws related to economic affairs, as well as the application of local decrees and orders related to the economy of the Emirate. According to the decree mentioned above;the Department was established and included the following sections:
